Cannabis Industry News: A Roundup of the Latest Developments

On January 10, 2022, New York City took its first steps to open a legal recreational marijuana dispensary. On Friday, January 16, 2023, the local, medical marijuana dispensary Legally Rooted opened its doors on 6th Street, becoming the first dispensary to open in the city.[0] A year after marijuana was legalized for individuals aged 21 and older in the state, this launch is set to take place, likely making it one of the most lucrative cannabis markets in the nation.[1]

Since then, there has been a lot of news related to the cannabis industry in the US and around the world. National Cannabis News, Maine Cannabis Report, American Cannabis, and Global Cannabis have all been updated with the latest news, articles, and headlines. There have also been updates from the LA County Office of Cannabis Management, who are hosting a community meeting to determine what an equitable cannabis industry in LA County would look like.[2]

In February 2023, updates were made on February 2, 7, 10, 16, 17, and 24. On February 23, 2023, the National Cannabis News also released an article titled “First NYC Cannabis Dispensary Has Opened!”
