Preserving Assisted Living in Boulder: An Important Task for Our Community

Assisted living is a critical service for members of our community who are independent, yet require help with daily living tasks.[0] Unfortunately, with the closure of the Mezzanine at Golden West, many may not be able to find a suitable and affordable assisted living placement, and may be forced to enter a nursing home and give up a high degree of independence.[0] We must act now to preserve assisted living in Boulder, in order to ensure that this community remains an enduring home for all of its members.[0]

The Association for Community Living (ACL), the Arc serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties, is an independent advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.[0] To learn more about the ACL and its mission, please visit www.aclboulder.org.[0] This opinion piece was originally printed in the Boulder Daily Camera.[1]
